Thanks VMware :-(

22May08

I remembered that message from the beta. The server froze and VMware said to install the new beta. OK. But now it happened again, VMware Server said “new version available” (or something like that) and the virtual machine just froze. OK. The whole Ubuntu Server was killed. The only way to get it going was to press the reset button. I hate doing that to server hardware.

And the server doesn’t want to come up anymore. Booting the hardware sounds fine, the screen flickrs and then the signal dies. The raid disks keep flashing, but that’s it. I can’t access it with X, VNC, nomachine… Can’t even get into bios, nothing.

I am f…..g angry. WHY CAN’T VMWARE JUST LET THE SERVER KEEP GOING, WHY WHY WHY WHY ?????

Update —–

after rebooting a couple of times, the server came back on again. Updating Linux and the VMware Server software took some time, but finally after the second attempt, the server is up again.

Please VMware, don’t have built in system halts.  Please.
